Team for Villa
This game seems almost incidental, sandwiched as it is between the two ties against Sevilla. If we are to get anything from this one, Moyes will need to make sure the players are focused. There's still a massive amount to play for in the league.

I think we can forget about Bowen participating in this game. Apart from that it's a question of whether the manager wants to rest anyone or circulate the meagre resources at his disposal. Given that Dawson has been playing with pain-killing injections I would have thought we could give Diop a run-out here. Lanzini might also benefit from a break, with Vlasic getting a go in his preferred central role.

Fabianski
Johnson Diop Zouma Cresswell
Rice Soucek
Benrahma Vlasic Fornals
Antonio

Re: Team for Villa
I'd rest Antonio for this one, keep him fresh for the second leg.

Same team as OP, but Noble in for Antonio making it a 3 in midfield. Vlasic can be a false 9 or whatever the term is.

Incidentally I think were losing to Villa whatever team we put out. Timing, form and priority of this game would seem to favour them, think we'll have one eye on Sevilla whatever happens. Just hope there are no injuries and we have a full quota for Thursday.

Same team as Exile

Same thoughts as Stepney.

I think we lose this Sunday, the 3 games in a week and no return scenario - to then hopefully have a big bounce, win 2-0 Thursday and turn the cocks over at their place next Sunday.

Re: Team for Villa
I was told, and rightly so, that OkoFlex could not play in the Sevilla match so what about this game?

Absolutely nothing to lose since currently we seem incapable of hitting a barn door from a few yards, great opportunity for the lad and if he misses a chance or two so what - join the club!!

Re: Team for Villa
I would rest more players. We have to go for broke next thur we are not going to be able to compete in the league with such a small squad with many out of form.
Id seriously consider resting one of Soucek and rice, give some of the youngsters a game like other ms have said

Re: Team for Villa
What last night showed me was just how much we need to be in Europe again next year, even if it’s the Conference League.

Wolves are 2 points behind us now, and have an easy game at Everton on Sunday.

We need a win to keep ourselves in the top 7.

Re: Team for Villa
Moyes said Bowen definitely not available on Sunday.
I didn't know about Dawson, probably a good idea to rest him, but not sure Moyes? I'll go with Exiles team.

Whatever the team is - the boys are largely physically fucked - the same 7-8 and maybe 2-3 changes

So we're writing this one off then, BFS style.

Come Friday we're be out of Europe and 7th in the league, and we will have the happy clappers on here screaming ''we're still 7th'' You gotta laugh.

Came write it off, more important than Thursday really. We have more chance through the league than winning the Europa imo. Think we’ll get beat no matter what though.

If we don't get into gear soon the season will descend into a batty for 9th.
And a long goodbye from Rice and Bowen.

Re: Team for Villa
Moyes-lets keep the same team all season. Wanker. Blames Atlanta for going missing last 4 hours of the transfer window. Where was he the preceding 30 days. IF he had bought strikers in the summer or winter windows, we wouldn't be solely reliant on an out of form converted wing back as our only striking option. Mismanaged by Moyes. Full Stop.

The success of last season has made many on here acts as spoiled brats.

Manuel, finishing seventh is normally a great season for West Ham, yet you mock it as failure, where in fact it would be one on the top 20 finishes in our history.

We've consolidated. Let's see what happens in the summer and get behind the team in the meantime.

Re: Team for Villa
It seems you can’t win these days.

Take a balanced view of our current situation in the context of our history and you’re seen as a “happy clapper”.

Cry that were not in the Top 4, and you’re a Post-96er.

Just enjoy the fucking ride and stop all the hand-wringing, ffs.
